About

The person behind the work. Background, instincts, what I'm drawn to.

My path into Product wasn't conventional. I started my career in technical sales, selling software to schools in Melbourne before moving back to the UK to help build out the European operation of a fast-growing EdTech platform. I learned Product by doing it: navigating changing requirements, working closely with customers and engineers, and making decisions with imperfect information.

That journey gave me something many PMs spend years developing: confidence in technical conversations, a strong commercial instinct, and the ability to stay effective when ambiguity is high. What keeps me engaged is the challenge: balancing competing demands, collaborating across teams, and shipping with purpose. Get it in front of users, learn fast, and iterate. That bias for execution over endless deliberation is what I bring to every team.

How I work

AI isn't a tool.It's the workflow.

Claude + MCP IntegrationsSpec generation, stakeholder synthesis, decision logging
Notion AIPRD drafting, discovery docs, async alignment
Automated Spec PipelinesStructured input → engineering-ready output
~30% faster discovery-to-specLive in production workflows, not experimentation
Work shipped

Products delivered.Nine modules, end-to-end.

Nine modules from conception to live. Problem, role, outcome — plus Compass blog links where they exist.

DfE Compliance · 175+ Schools
School Census
Problem
Schools submitting statutory census data through clunky legacy systems with no validation.
My role
Sole PO. Scoped from DfE spec, wrote all user stories, owned delivery end-to-end.
↑ Delivered in 3 months. Most-used module across 175+ schools.

Secondary · Exam Management
Exams Module
Problem
Exam seasons managed across disconnected tools — scheduling, clashes, invigilation all separate.
My role
End-to-end ownership. Five secondary schools live.
↑ Full exam cycle inside one module. No spreadsheets.
Compass blog post
Classroom Management
Seating Plans
Problem
Seating managed on paper, no access to student context at point of planning.
My role
Built from scratch. Full ownership — discovery through EU market rollout.
↑ SEN and behaviour data in the seating view. Live across EU.
Compass blog post
Post-16 · Course Transitions
Course Manager
Problem
Post-16 OANs and work placements tracked inconsistently — DfE submission risk.
My role
Full ownership. Benchmarked against competitors during scoping.
↑ Delivered in 6 months. Cleaner UX than any direct competitor.

Compliance · Staff Data
School Workforce Census
Problem
Staff contracts and absences managed across spreadsheets — statutory submission risk.
My role
Full ownership. Delivered against a spec that changed multiple times mid-build.
↑ Replaced the most time-intensive statutory return for admin teams.
Compass MIS overview
API · Third-Party Integrations
API Endpoint Expansion
Problem
Limited API surface area restricting Compass connectivity with third-party systems — schools unable to integrate key tools and data pipelines.
My role
Scoped and prioritised new endpoint additions. Managed partner relationships, wrote data contracts, and coordinated delivery with engineering.
↑ Expanded API surface enabled new third-party integrations — broadening Compass connectivity across the school ecosystem.

Ways of working

How I actually work.Not a methodology essay.

The honest version of how I operate — shaped by seven years delivering in a fast-moving, compliance-heavy environment where the spec changed and the deadlines didn't.

01
Discovery in the open
I run discovery with engineering in the room from day one. Removes the biggest source of rework — assumptions that live in a PRD and die in sprint planning.
02
Regulatory specs as living docs
DfE guidance changes mid-cycle. I treat compliance specs like code — versioned, tracked, change impact assessed before anything gets built.
03
AI-augmented, not AI-dependent
Claude and MCP integrations are live in my daily workflow. Cut discovery-to-spec time by ~30% without sacrificing quality control.
04
API-first thinking
Managed third-party integration partnerships at endpoint level — writing data contracts, negotiating API agreements, sitting in technical sessions directly.
05
Ambiguity as a starting point
When something is genuinely ambiguous, I'd rather move fast with clear written assumptions than wait for certainty that isn't coming.
06
Commercial line of sight
I've always known which products I'm building have commercial weight. That changes how you prioritise and what you fight for in scope discussions.
Side projects

Built outside of work.Keeps me close to the craft.

Things I've shipped for myself. Gives me genuine empathy for the engineering decisions I ask teams to make every day.

Live
Lift Log
A workout tracker built to solve my own problem — every app was bloated or over-gamified. Log it, track it, improve. Simple by design.
